Nugget Update

Nugget 010Remember Nugget, the lost chihuahua we found wandering on our street?

Nugget_visitsWe didn’t find Nugget’s owners, but we found a loving home for him just down the street from us, and he comes to visit sometimes. Continue reading

Happy Valentine’s Day

VD_cookies_photo

The daughter of one of my clients asked if we could make Valentine’s Day cookies, so I looked through some cookbooks and found a recipe I hadn’t tried before. It’s simple to prepare, and it makes a large number of cookies. Continue reading

Fat Tuesday

jambalaya photoFat Tuesday, also known as Mardi Gras or Shrove Tuesday, is the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Ash Wednesday occurs 46 days before Easter, which falls on a different day each year, so it can be as early as February 4 or as late as March 10. Continue reading

Paleo Muffins

muffinA friend who takes my crossfit class and who is also trying the Whole9 challenge told me about a paleo muffin she had at a bakery in Sun Valley that she was hoping to replicate. She told me what was in it, and I googled “banana paleo muffiin” and found a recipe that came close. Continue reading

Happy New Year!

One thing I’ve learned about blogging: It’s easier when you set a schedule and do it on a regular basis. Continue reading

Tina’s Salmon Patties

Fresh salmon is still plentiful in the Northwest, so I’m going to post a couple of recipes for salmon this week and next.

A friend of mine was recently talking about how much she liked the salmon patties they sell at Wild Salmon Seafood Market. I like them too, but I took that as a personal challenge to post my own recipe.

Berry Season

I took this photograph a little while ago and meant to post the recipe right away, but then I got busy with catering events. It’s still possible to find some fresh local strawberries, however, or you can always substitute fresh peaches, blackberries, blueberries or raspberries. Or use California strawberries if you prefer.

Happy Birthday to Us

A little over a year ago, my friend (and wonderful client) Julie suggested that I start a blog. My initial response was “of course, so then I can be over commited too.” 🙂

But when I mentioned the idea to some of my other clients and friends, they all seemed to think it was brilliant. So, with the support of a few friends, we launched Thyme With Sage with an introductory post on July 5, 2011.

We posted the first recipe, for Watermelon Salad, on July 15, but didn’t really get into the swing of almost-twice-weekly posts until August. Now, my WordPress dashboard informs me that we’ve published a total of 85 posts, which includes more than 70 recipes, and a few stories about my running endeavors. Continue reading

Who’s Got Crab Legs?

A client for whom I recently catered a plated luncheon for 12 requested that the menu include shelled Dungeness crab legs served with a mustard aioli—using a specific recipe that she was able to get from a prominent restaurant here in Seattle.

Fresh Dungeness crab is readily available in local seafood markets right now (I get mine from Wild Salmon Seafood at Ballard’s Fishermen’s Terminal), so this seemed like a good time to share the recipe with you too. Continue reading

Help Send Nugget Home

Do you recognize this dog?

This post has nothing to do with food—or even running—but I’m hoping to get your help to spread the word so we can find the owners of this little dog.

I was at home at about 11 a.m. on July 1, when I noticed a small dog running back and forth on the street outside my house. He was covered in poop and looked obviously lost. Continue reading
